Bible Reading Day 124
Day 124 – Luke 23:27-38
On the way to the place of crucifixion, Jesus continues to teach, warn, and prophesy; showing his heart for all mankind. These details are unique to Luke, showing his carefully researched historical approach.
At the point of crucifixion, we see the powerful relationship between Jesus and the Father as Jesus prays “Father forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
Apart from this prayer, there is no record of anyone else understanding what is going on: the crowd watched, the religious leaders scoffed, the soldiers mocked, and tomorrow we will see the criminals taking out their agony on Jesus.
But the good news is that we have the benefit of hindsight – we know what Jesus is doing because Luke, and the other gospel writers, have recorded it for us. While others had to wait until after the resurrection to understand God’s plan, we can rejoice as we reflect on what Jesus has done to open the door for us to come freely to God!
Have a great day!
