Bible Reading Day 178

Day 178: June 27 (Acts 6:44-60)

Good morning!

Today Stephen concludes his defense, describing God’s plan through human history and explaining how God is at work.

Stephen’s argument is plain and simple, yet irrefutable, and his description of God’s plan clearly accuses the religious leaders of rebellion against God and failure to lead the people to the Messiah.

Naturally this infuriates the Council who drag him out of the city and stone him to death (breaking the Roman law in the process). The killers lay their coats at the feet of a young man called Saul (who will figure prominently in the life of the early church!). So Saul is a witness of the first martyrdom. And Stephen is overjoyed to not only see Jesus, but also join Him in heaven. And in the process he prays for God to forgive his killers. Such love can only come from the source of love – God Himself!

How does God want to show you His love today?

Have a great day!
