Bible Reading Day 200

Day 200: July 19 (Acts 20:17-38)

Good morning!

Paul is hurrying to get to Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost (the birthday of the Church), but he also knows that he will be leaving Asia for the last time, and he wants to say farewell to the elders of the church in Ephesus.

This key church was important to Paul, as the church at Antioch was also. His last message to them is recorded in detail by Luke (remember he was traveling with Paul by this time). Paul recounts the trials and troubles he has endured, and testifies to his motivation and commitment to the gospel, and to them.

And his meeting with them concludes with tearful goodbyes – they all know they will never meet again in this life. Consider how you would approach a group of dear friends, knowing that God has plans for you that will conclude with your death. What a privilege to share your heart with them one last time!

I suggest you read Paul’s message and personalize it to yourself. These are the words of a dear friend, and powerful spiritual leader. What does God want to say to you through him?

Have a great day!
