Day 223: August 11 (Romans 10)

Good morning!

Paul continues his explanation of his love for his people, his desire for them to come around to God’s way of relationship, and their unwillingness to change.

This chapter contains wisdom an hope for any of us who have seen a friend, co-worker, or relative try to relate to God on their own terms. Although that approach can appear to work for a while, it never results in true relationship. Instead, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (verse 9).

In other words, there can be no striving to become pleasing. Instead we believe what God has done and speak out what changes in us as a result – “Jesus is the ruler, director, guide, Lord, of my life”

That is what Paul teaches the Israelites, and that is how you and I came into relationship with God. Using multiple scripture references, Paul gives us pointers for how everyone can come to God – on His terms not ours! And the more we want someone to find that life-changing relationship with God, the more we will be prepared to speak about our own relationship with Him, so they can hear and believe!

Have a great day!
