Day 229: August 17 (Romans 15:1-20)

Good morning!

Following yesterday’s exhortation to be considerate of others, and to act with integrity on the things God has shown us, Paul takes the wisdom a step further today.

The responsibility for consideration rests with the believer who has the stronger faith. If you or I know we are right about some issue, and others disagree with us, it is our responsibility to be considerate. Why? “We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.”

Our example (as Paul has said before) is Jesus. He came to show the Jews that God is faithful to His promises to them, and to show the Gentiles that God is merciful to sinners.

Paul confirms each assertion with quotes from scripture, and then goes on to explain his ministry and the reason for writing to the church in Rome.

This first half of Romans 15 is full of wisdom for us today. What is God highlighting for you?

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Have a great day!
