Bible Reading Day 247

Day 247: September 4 (1 Corinthians 13)

Good morning!

We have reached the pinnacle of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians – Chapter 13. Paul ended yesterday’s passage by saying “But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.” Today he writes about love. The most excellent way.

Without love, all other spiritual qualities are worthless. Love is the representation of God Himself (if you are unsure of this, try reading verses 4 through 7 replacing “Love is…” with “God is…”

Every other mark of spirituality (prized by the Corinthians) will come to an end, but love is eternal.

Currently we are in a place, and a season of eternity, where we only see and know in part. We are still separated from God (at least to a degree), and love will be known fully when we are reunited with God.

So three things last forever: faith, hope, and love. And love is the greatest of these.

Love: agape. God’s nature, God’s revealed character, God’s being.

Have a great day!
Mark.
