Day 250: September 7 (1 Corinthians 15:1-32)

Good morning!

Chapter 15 begins with a wonderful summary of the gospel, and Paul’s calling to preach to the Gentiles. The key phrase after the resurrection is “saw Him” – each of the apostles, along with hundreds of others, saw Jesus. The resurrection is a historical fact and many skeptical men and women were convinced by seeing Jesus alive.

Paul is urging the Corinthians to stand on what they first believed – Jesus died for our sins, and rose again, as the Scriptures said, and this was verified by hundreds of eyewitnesses.

Paul goes on to apply this amazing truth (that a human was resurrected after a gruesome death) to everyone who believes. We too will be resurrected. We died because of sin (introduced by Adam) but now we can live again because of Jesus. This whole section is correcting another error in the Corinthian church (that the Christian life is for this life and there is no life after death), yet Paul gives us some powerful truth in these verses.

This life can be transformed from deadly sin to life-giving forgiveness, with the hope of a new life after death alongside Jesus. It really is worth believing, isn’t it?

Have a great day!
