Day 282: October 9 (Philippians 4)

Good morning!

We have reached the final chapter of Philippians, the epistle of joy.

In chapter 2 we saw how Christians can know joy in suffering, and in service. Yesterday we saw joy in believing (chapter 3:9). Today the joy is in giving (chapter 4:18-19).

Paul has practical advice for friends, including some who are having a hard time getting along. As you read chapter 4, I encourage you to read it with your friendships in mind; see what God is saying to you today.

Then we get to two final key verses in Philippians (4:8-9): And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Flowing from the blessing of friendship, comes the joy of giving. How does God want you to give today?

Have a great day!

Mark.
