Bible Reading Day 315

Day 315: November 11 (Hebrews 7)
Good morning!
Happy Veterans Day.
In Chapter 7 we come to a very significant point in the Letter to the Hebrews. Their father in faith is Abraham, whose history with God founded a whole nation, from whom came Jesus, the Messiah.
Psalm 110 tells us about an encounter Abraham had with Melchizedek, King of Salem. It is also recorded in Genesis 14.
This chapter of Hebrews is quoting from Psalm 110, and applying truths from Genesis 14 to the Jewish believers in Jesus. Jesus is a priest in the order of Melchizedek (i.e. appointed by God, not by genealogy). He is perfect, unlike all the human priests who had faults and failings.
In my research for this chapter, I came across a very good study of Hebrews 7 which ironically came from a formerly fallible source. Grace Communion International is the new name for the reformed Worldwide Church of God – a cult formed by Herbert Armstrong in 1934 which went through a process of repentance and transformation in the period from 1990 to 2000 resulting in their acceptance as a true evangelical Christian denomination and their name change in 2009. Just as the WCG were transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, so Jesus transformed the priesthood from a fallible, sometimes corrupt, model for helping people find God into the one vehicle that can truly reunite God and humanity – He is a perfect High Priest who can bring us to God. No other priest can do that.
How has God transformed you? And how does the fruit of that change affect others?
Have a great day!
